Desiring an additional source of income, David spent his savings on high-quality Egyptian cotton sheets, planning to sell them to a nursing home in Miami, but the company did not bear fruit. At a friend’s funeral, David met his high school friend Ephraim Diveroli, who moved to Los Angeles a few years before working with his uncle who sold guns. Ephraim left his uncle and founded his own company, AEY, which obeys U.S. government weapons orders over the ongoing war in Iraq. David’s life changes again when his girlfriend informs him that she is pregnant. Ephraim offered him a job at AEY, and although both David and Iz strongly opposed the war, David finally agreed, telling his girlfriend that he had begun selling cotton sheets to the U.S. government.
